Erie Pennsylvania Wedding at the Schoolhouse Tavern | Jake & Kendra

The moment we met Jake & Kendra, we felt welcomed as a part of their family. Friends drove miles from their homes for these two, and you could feel that warmth and excitement on their wedding day. With Kendra being a graphic artist and Jake being a wedding photographer, every detail of their day was not only gorgeous but intentional. Kendra’s getting ready space was tranquil and quiet, giving a lot of time for reflection. Her bouquet was handmade, with little sprigs of old dried flowers from the first bouquet Jake gave her. The studio was sprinkled with sentimental pieces of their courtship, and it took me back to my own memories of our wedding day. Alex spent the morning with Jake and his groomsmen, and I love seeing how he captured the dynamic of Jake and his friends in their old apartment. Shortly after, Jake saw his bride for the very first time. I haven’t much to elaborate on this because it was such an emotional moment and I think my sequence of images tells its story better than I ever could.

We explored downtown Erie for portraits during the afternoon and made our way to the ceremony. The venue Jake & Kendra chose was an old schoolhouse established in 1897 which has now been restored & repurposed into a venue and tavern. Everyone took their time to celebrate their newly married friends for the evening, so many staying behind to sing the very last Killers song with them. But unlike most weddings, the night was still young to spend time with friends. We pulled up to the glowing neon of Mighty Fine donuts, and the shop went from a few customers to being filled with friends in tulle dresses and black tuxedos. The night ended with sweet goodbyes and happy tears, and maybe a few donuts to-go.

This wedding was a perfect example of a personal and meaningful celebration of love. Here's how Jake and Kendra felt...

“Let me first start by saying, I am a photographer. And when it came to my own wedding this was a number one priority. I had been scoping out photographers before I even knew the my now wife. I had made a list of options for a photographer before I had even purchased the engagement ring. Okay, now you have an inkling of an idea how important of a decision this was for me. From my inquiry to delivery of the photos Josie and Alex were AMAZING. I was so satisfied with their friendliness, professionalism, and the photos... THE PHOTOS.

My wife and I shed many a tear while looking at our photos. The day was perfectly captured. Our day was captured beautifully and accurately through their artistic vision. If I had a third arm I'd give them three thumbs up.”
